Follow these steps to submit your essay to Safe Assignment:

1. If you are using Word 2007, save your work as a Word 2003 (old version) or Rich Text.
2. Log onto Black Board.
3. Go to your English class menu
4. Click on Assignments
5. Click on the view .completelink below the "Investigation Essay" to submit your own investigation essay. You will see the "Safe Assignment Upload Form."
6. In that window, locate "Attach File" and click on "Browse" to upload your essay.
7. Click "Submit." Your essay now has been uploaded to SA in Black Board. Now you will want to view your results.

View Your Originality Results for Your Investigation Essay

1. Return to the Assignments window. (DO NOT USE THE BACK BUTTON. USE THE MENU AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE OR LOG OUT AND LOG IN.)
2. Click on view/complete.
3. You will see a Work Submitted menu
4. Click on "Text" icon to view your essay
5. Click on "SA" icon to generate an Originality Report.

This report should let students see how well/poorly they have paraphrased their borrowed material from journal articles and internet sources. This an exercise only to provide students with feedback on their writing so that they can do necessary revision to improve their summarizing and paraphrasing and to improve how they document borrowed material.
