What is the proposal? The proposal
is a document that presents the writer's intended plan and view of his/her
research project. Use these questions to help develop your proposal,
which will be written in essay form. The essay will probably 3-4-5 pages.
Follow all MLA conventions for paper presentation.
- Have a brief introduction to the proposal
- State your working thesis
- State your target audience. What do you think think you will want
your audience to do? (this will be the "call to action"
in your essay)
- Discuss any key terminology unique to your topic that will have
to identified
- Present the reasons why you support your assertion (your thesis).
This portion may also discuss why you chose your topic
- Will your paper take a stand and defend a point of view (the assertion)
or will it be a problem-solving essay? Discuss which approach you
will take. If you write a problem solving essay, do you have any solutions
in mind yet? If so discuss them.
- Discuss the best sources you have found so far. Remember you will
have 8-12 sources in your essay. You may not have decided on all of
them, so discuss the ones you have found that are so far the most
useful. You must provide name of source, author, and date
of source in this part of the discussion.
- Discuss any problems or concerns you have with any part of the research
process or the writing process
- Will you have an interview source? Who will it be?
