Since some attention has been given today to what students have to say (with or without substantiation, thought, research, coherent argument, and so forth), I'd like to turn the spotlight to a different part of the stage.

As some of you know, our University of Northern Colorado colleague Ben Varner has for some time now been involved with promoting good work from students--his and ours.

Academic Exchange Extra, an on-line forum for educators and students and a companion to Academic Exchange Quarterly, the print journal of which Ben is the (Acting) Executive Editor

welcomes good essays from students on various matters related to education. In fact, I have been thrilled to see perhaps a dozen of my students' work appear in this zine over the past couple of years.

I'd like to suggest that you take a close look at the web site and some of the specific issues.  Perhaps, with your students' permission, you'll be able to promote their work and remind more of us.
