Female Urban Community College Experience Through a Feminist Theoretical
Lens
Jaime Lester
Feminist theory has focused a theoretical lens
on the gender relations and socialization in society. It has provided
a new perspective on gender relations in American society and a
new analytical tool and theoretical framework for research. The
feminist perspective, however, is a contemporary concept that has
not been thoroughly examined. Education has used this framework
to examine the academy and the introduction of female faculty (Benjamin,
1988). It has also been briefly utilized in discussion of Women
and Gender Studies in Universities, which began in the 1970's (Farnham,
1987). However, feminist perspective has not been used when discussing
students, specifically, community college students. The feminist
perspective can provide insight into the societal conditions of
female community college students as well as a new tool to analyze
the existing data in regards to community college women. full

Applying
Developmental and Learning Theories to Instructional Techniques
Sandra Bartholomew
Discussions of how individuals learn and know naturally
suggest a related topic: how do we facilitate learning and knowing
through the best possible teaching strategies? In this paper, we
will review the implications for teaching that derive from developmental
and learning theorists. A synthesis of these implications will form
the basis of a recommended plan to help teachers at a culinary college
improve their effectiveness in a writing program that offers unique
challenges. full

A response to Robert
Levine's The Geography of Time
Jessica Robinson
Time: 3:30AM. I went to bed only a few hours ago,
but it's already time to get up again. My body begs for a few more
hours of rest, but the alarm clock beckons. As the haze cleared
from my sleepy brain, I remembered why I was awake so early, and
immediately, the stress of the today's activities came pouring back.
Finish research paper. Write honors essay. Quick shower. Rush for
9AM. Quick lunch. Class at 2PM, etc., etc., etc.. full
