Lynne Fukuda is Instructor of Biology at Hawaii Pacific University, and is a regular contributor to this journal in the monthly column, "The View From Here." Betta LoSardo is a member of the School for New Learning Resident Faculty at DePaul University, and SNL Director, Suburban Programs, Oak Forest Campus. She holds an A.M. degree in Italian Studies from Middlebury College and has studied at the Universita' di Firenze. Susan McGury is a member of the School for New Learning Resident Faculty at DePaul University. She earned an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana. At the University of Reading, Berks, U.K., she completed her doctoral studies in English Literature. Current research interests include studies on Bernini, on reconsiderations of scholarship in the academy and on using reflection as a tool for critical thinking. (E-mail: smcgury@depaul.edu).

Ron Rubin is a Safe Schools Consultant and Coordinator of the Crisis Prevention & Management Project for the Vermont Department of Education. During his 33-year career in education he's been a teacher, principal, and a faculty member at the University of Vermont, Goddard College, and the Community College of Vermont. Ron provides training and technical assistance in a variety of areas pertaining to discipline and school climate. He is hopeful, likes to laugh, and has written 14 books of poetry.
