It is with tremendous enthusiasm that I move into the position of Editor-in-Chief. I have had the privilege of working on AE Extra for over a year now, and in that time there have been many modifications that I feel have contributed to the overall integrity of the journal. The driving force behind these modifications is my predecessor, Karen Heise. Karen has set an example worthy of striving for, and I intend to continue with what she has set forth as well as add a few modifications of my own. We wish Karen all the best with her comprehensive exams as well as her future scholarly endeavors.

We will continue to do our best to provide you with a forum for sharing your ideas. AE Extra would be nothing without your input. If there is an aspect of teaching that you would like to know more about, please let me know. We would like to invite anyone with a background and interest in academe to submit an article for consideration and potential publication in future issues.

We persist in our endeavor to increase AE Extra's exposure on lists both nationally and internationally. If you are aware of lists where we can post Calls for Papers, please send me an e-mail and let me know. Though we have broadened our submissions to include quality fiction, poetry, and other forms of prose writing, we have not received as many fiction and prose submissions as we would like. We will continue to encourage submissions in these areas and expand our criteria to include the sharing of lesson plans as well as critical analyses, particularly that of pedagogically oriented material.

With this issue we present part two of the five-part series from independent Canadian education researcher Dan Lukiv entitled "The Student-Centered Approach." In Part 2, our second "ingredient" involves reevaluating our priorities in moving away from the subject and back to the student. [See also Part 1 from the previous issue].

Andrew Foran discusses the student experience and personal transformation as he shares his encounter with an Adventure Based Experiential Learning (ABEL) course in "The 'Push' of Experiential Voices." Timothy Lillie and Nancy Deaner present their findings on siblings with disabilities in "Siblings with Disabilities: Positive or Negative Relationships?" We have also included more vivid and thought-provoking poetry from David Wilde.

As always, don't forget to check out "Grist for the Mill" for possible submission ideas.

I would personally like to welcome aboard Sharon Studenka. Sharon is not only a new member of AE Extra's editorial board, but she is a colleague of mine at CMU as well. I look forward to working with her and continuing to work with Jaime Lester, another excellent member of AE Extra's editorial board.

Finally, I would like to issue a special note of gratitude to our contributors and our readers. If you have any comments, questions, or submission ideas please pass them along to me; I would be more than happy to hear from you.

Cheers!

Elizabeth Haller, Editor-in-Chief
