Contributors to April's AE-Extra

Lynne Fukuda is Distance Education Specialist at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and is a regular contributor to this journal in the monthly column, "The View From Here." Her previous column, "Fukuda's Chalkboard," can be found in the January-August 2002 editions of this journal, as well as various other writings in the 2001 editions. (E-mail lfukuda@hawaii.edu ).

Dan Lukiv, M.Ed., teaches English and creative writing at McNaughton Centre. Quesnel, BC, Canada. He is a poet, novelist, short story and article writer, and an independent education researcher. His writing has appeared over fifteen hundred times in 16 countries. His formal apprenticeship as a writer includes intensive personal direction from masters such as Canada's Professor Robert Harlow, the USA's Paul Bagdon, and England's D.M. Thomas. He edits a literary journal, CHALLENGER international, which focuses attention on young, up-and-coming Canadian poets. He also edits The Journal of Secondary Alternate Education. Marcy L. Koontz, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Clothing, Textiles and Interior Design at The University of Alabama, U.S.A. Her research focuses on emerging technologies with an emphasis on the application of virtual and mixed reality in the field of apparel and textiles as well as developing and constructing advanced computer-based curricula in apparel and textiles instruction. Marlene de Beer is a South African national and researcher, and currently completing a PhD thesis focuses on social cohesion, education and international organisations at the UNESCO Centre, University of Ulster, Northern Ireland. She is a qualified Social Worker (BA Soc.Sc. honours), specialised in Community Development (MA Soc.Sc.), lectured in Community Policing and has a Diploma in Disaster Management. She is currently doing part-time contract research for the Pushkin Trust (creativity & imagination) and is the co-founder and facilitator of a meditation group.
