Lynne Fukuda is Distance Education
Specialist at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and is a regular contributor
to this journal in the monthly column, "The
View From Here." Her previous column, "Fukuda's Chalkboard,"
can be found in the January-August 2002 editions of this journal, as well

Dan Lukiv, M.Ed., teaches
English and creative writing at McNaughton Centre. Quesnel, BC, Canada.
He is a poet, novelist, short story and article writer, and an independent
education researcher. His writing has appeared over fifteen hundred times
in 16 countries. His formal apprenticeship as a writer includes intensive
personal direction from masters such as Canada's Professor Robert Harlow,
the USA's Paul Bagdon, and England's D. M. Thomas. He edits a literary
journal, CHALLENGER international, which focuses attention on young, up-and-coming
Canadian poets. He also edits The Journal of Secondary Alternate Education.

Ruby Evans,
Ph.D., is Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for the Community
College specialization area in the College of Education at UCF. Evans
teaches fully web-based courses in community college education and serves
on and directs doctoral dissertation committees. Evans coordinates the
Graduate Certificate in Community College Instruction, the Masters for
teaching in the community college, and the Community College specialization
area for the Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. (E-mail

Sayyed Mohsen Fatemi,
Ph.D., teaches courses on language, communication, psychology of mass
media, film analysis, hermeneutics, media and culture for the University
of British Columbia Continuing Studies, Athabasca University, Century
College, and Kingston College. He also teaches graduate courses on multi
media for the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and Pattison College.
Mohsen holds doctorates in language and literacy education as well as
psychology. He is a published author, poet and experienced conference
presenter. He has also conducted seminars and workshops on interpersonal
and intrapersonal issues such as emotional intelligence and language,
creative thinking and presentation, negotiation skills, stress management,
