Contributors to March AE-Extra

Lynne Fukuda, an instructor of Anthropology at Windward Community College, a part-time instructor of Biology at Hawaii Pacific University, and an instructor at Central Texas College, based in Hawaii at Schofield Barracks.  Ms Fukuda is a regular contributor to this journal in her monthly column, “The View from Here.”  Her previous column, "Fukuda's Chalkboard," can be found in the January-August 2002 editions of this journal, as well as various other writings in the 2001 editions.

Dan Lukiv, M.Ed., teaches English and creative writing at McNaughton Centre, Quesnel, BC, Canada. He is a poet, novelist, short story and article writer, and an independent education researcher. His writing has appeared over two thousand times in 18 countries. His formal apprenticeship as a writer includes intensive personal direction from masters such as Canada's Professor Robert Harlow, the USA's Paul Bagdon, and England's D. M. Thomas. He edits a literary journal, CHALLENGER international, which focuses attention on young, up-and-coming Canadian poets. He also edits The Journal of Secondary Alternate Education. He is married and has four daughters.

Kathleen M. T. Collins, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She teaches graduate-level courses in mixed research, assessment, and special education. Dr. Collins has published on topics related to the instruction of post-secondary students, learning disabilities, and mixed research and she has presented her research at numerous international, national, and regional conferences.

Larry G. Daniel is Dean and Professor, College of Education and Human Services, at the University of North Florida.  His research and scholarly interests include research methodology, teacher education, middle grade education, and educational policy.  He presently serves as a member of the Special Interest Group Executive Committee of the American Educational Research Association and the Research Advisory Board of the National Middle School Association.  Daniel is currently Co-Editor of Research in the Schools, a nationally /internationally refereed general education research journal.

Margarita Lara, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Bilingual Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.  Her primary areas of research are teacher education, bilingual education and English as a second language. Dr. Lara has over 25 years of teaching experience in public school and in higher education.

Anthony Onwuegbuzie, PhD, is professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling at Sam Houston State University. He teaches courses in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research, and writes extensively on topics related to all three areas. Dr. Onwuegbuzie has secured more than 200 refereed journal articles and book chapters, and has made approximately 400 presentations and keynote addresses at regional, national, and international conferences and venues.  He is editor of Educational Researcher and co-editor of Research in the Schools.

Vanessa Raney is currently an Associate of Arts student with an emphasis in Economics at Frederick Community College. Beginning summer 2008, she will be taking classes toward a graduate certificate in Environmental Management at the University of Maryland University College. She hopes to continue on to an MA or Ph.D. program in 2009.

Luis A. Rosado, PhD, is the Director of the Center for Bilingual Education Program at the University of Texas at Arlington.  He has published in the areas of parental involvement, cross-cultural communication, and Spanish linguistics. He is also the author of two books for the preparation of students to take the EC-4 and bilingual EC-4 teacher certification examinations.   Dr. Rosado has 22 years of teaching experience at the elementary, high school and college levels.
