waiting
in the eve of his eyes
she grows like larkspur
inconsistently incisive
ombre kisses like cyan
gently stroke—brush
ivory keys like feathers
taunting skin blending
melody with madness
isolated—removed
waiting on spring
waiting on melting
his viridian divinity
Purpose
not long ago
ardent august sun married
placid michigan breezes
blew him softly
with sentient serendipity
and he saw her once
and fate, unsatisfied,
said once more
her scent stirred him
his music inspired her poetry
the reason—the purpose
lurks in the shadows behind
frosted oaks with ivory skirts
motionless
like mischievous children
watching with naïve amusement
as the seeker shivers
with impatience
while they are being
sought with vigor
through damp pink fingers
perched skyward shaking
like indecision
they wait
