Contributors to April AE-Extra Lynne Fukuda, an instructor of Anthropology at Windward Community College, a part-time instructor of Biology at Hawaii Pacific University, and an instructor at Central Texas College, based in Hawaii at Schofield Barracks. Ms Fukuda is a regular contributor to this journal in her monthly column, “The View from Here.” Her previous column, "Fukuda's Chalkboard," can be found in the January-August 2002 editions of this journal, as well as various other writings in the 2001 editions. Dan Lukiv, M.Ed., teaches English and creative writing at McNaughton Centre, Quesnel, BC, Canada. He is a poet, novelist, short story and article writer, and an independent education researcher. His writing has appeared over two thousand times in 18 countries. His formal apprenticeship as a writer includes intensive personal direction from masters such as Canada's Professor Robert Harlow, the USA's Paul Bagdon, and England's D. M. Thomas. He edits a literary journal, CHALLENGER international, which focuses attention on young, up-and-coming Canadian poets. He also edits The Journal of Secondary Alternate Education. He is married and has four daughters. Jose E. Coll, Ph.D., M.S.W. is a Director of a Military Social Work Program at the University of Southern California. Dr. Coll was previously an assistant professor of the School of Education and Social Services, Department of Social Work, at Saint Leo University. Dr. Coll’s research interests are predominantly focused on the development of worldviews and its relationship to student development, cognitive complexities, and multicultural counseling. He has published and presented on worldviews in national and international conferences. He has also published various studies on underage college drinking, advising, and optimism. Linda Elmer is a Masters candidate at the North Bay Campus of New College in the Culture, Ecology and Sustainable Community program. Her particular area of study is the intersection of capitalism, ecology and contemporary motherhood. She lives with her son in Berkeley, California, several blocks from the bay. Anthony J. Onwuegbuzie, Ph.D., is professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Counseling at Sam Houston State University. He teaches courses in qualitative research, quantitative research, and mixed methods. His research topics primarily involve disadvantaged and under-served populations such as minorities, children living in war zones, students with special needs, and juvenile delinquents. He also writes extensively on qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodological topics. Dr. Onwuegbuzie has secured more than 200 refereed journal articles and book chapters.
Lee A. Teufel is an assistant professor and the Director of Training, Counseling Programs at Argosy University/Tampa. Dr. Teufel’s research interests include child development, child and adolescent counseling, and clinical supervision. She has taught undergraduate courses in educational psychology and now primarily teaches classes in the Master’s counseling programs in Mental Health counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy and School Counseling.
