i will teach in Ulaan Batur.
there are very few teachers there.
i will teach Biology to their children
and tell them about the different grasses
that grow on their hilly countryside.
on their faces, will i see smiles,
as they learn that their horses can rechew their chews?
i will let them see bacteria for the first time.
will they start washing their hands with soap and water more often?
will they look at the sun with more gratitude,
after knowing that it serves to give them vitamin D?
i will teach them how to do composting,
and they will start gardens in their backyards,
planting plants i have yet to see.
will they make their parents proud,
as they eat the fruits of their tiny hands’ toils?
i'll tell them about the birds that fly their skies,
that they have flown in my country's skies, too.
i will tell them about the tuna, that grows bigger
than their fathers, and compare them with the little river
fishes they have. i will tell them about the
Philippine eagle, that we try so hard to keep alive,
and that they must take care of their tigers when they grow up.
after Biology, will they know more about life?
will i teach in Ulaan Batur?
