Kat rain down
New Orleans
smashed class
race rain down
poor blacks
rich white
hate rain down
emptied wallets
refugee cities
bars rain down
yesterday, slaves
today conscription
words rain down
spin me
round: Kat
rina rain down
broke glass
shifted veils
rac ism down?
Block the trains
coming down to
New Orleans
White man savior
going to save me
We sees isms down
No we hiding out
from mirrors raining
down social ills
self-deprecation, Oh
can we see

ourselves crumbling
down like mortars
“lies and broken glass…”
We paint the devil’s face
black, we make angels
white we say rain
down onto us oh heavens
wash the colors down
I can hear the screeching
It’s all coming down…
Just take it down…down.
